AMAZING SPOON

This is a photograph of a spoon. This spoon is narrower and more slender than other spoons and the depth of the spoon its self is more pronounced. One day when I was using this spoon I was absolutely amazed by its minimalistic shape and its ability to hold masses and volumes. I belive it is a great and innovative invention for our every day life. I feel really amazed and bemused when I think that we can eat a whole meal on a plate with only 7mm depth spoon. The spoon is so flexible in terms of its possible uses that we also can use it for liquid meals too. When a spoon is designed differently and innovatively like this one it adds an extra dimension or taste to the food. Sometimes I can eat more then I need, only to get the feelings of that spoon a bit longer. This invention is also cost effective and only cost me $2.50. Sometimes we take simple things for granted but ultimately I think we all enjoy using the spoon.

MY INFLUENCE

The Eiffel Tower in Paris was the main influence for me to become an architect. In 1999 I was a student of year 9 In Bangladesh. In my English book I had a comprehension about Eiffel tower and the teacher described about that structure and how this structure became an amazing piece of architecture. Since then I was so motivated to become an architect that after my HSC exam I did an entry course for architecture where I was taught by 4th and 5th year architecture students and when they used to appreciate my work I became more involved and interseted in architecture. I also had heard form their tutors that they were studying photography as an elective so I did a photography course from a well-known photography institute in Bangladesh. But all these courses I did were against my parent’s wishes. I also visited an architect’s office to speak to the principal architect to become more informed about architecture. all of these experiences combined to build my strong interest in Architecture.

When my HSC result was published I found out that my result was not high enough to sit for the admission test for Architecture in Bangladesh. Back then there were two more private universities however they were too expensive for Architecture. At That time my parents wanted me to do business and they were happy to pay for the Business but definetly not architecture. Howerver it was not possible for me to study Business or anything else except Architecture.

At this time I applied for study in Australia and I got in to TAFE NSW in 2005 but in Accounting. Because the architecture course was expensive and the duration was too long, it was hard for me to get an Australian permanent residency and pay for the full fees. However I was not happy studying boring monotonous Accounting. I wanted to utilize my creative flair and study Architecture.

So after one semester I switched to the Diploma of Architecture at TAFE. I think by that time my parents realized how much I loved Architecture. Due to the cost and duration of the course my parents were unable to pay the full cost for my study, so I was working part time to help myself. However, when I finished my Advanced Diploma in Architecture my parents told me that they are not able to help me pay for my University cost for Architecture which is $11,000.00 per semester. However, once again I was not able to part myself away from architecture after working for it for last 9 years.

I know what architecture is for me and I believe from last nine years, if I have that strong will nothing will be able to stop me as long as I reach to my goal.

So the last nine years encouragement and the next five years of journey to become an architect was mainly inspired by the great architecture of the Eiffel Tower and its architect Gustave Eiffel.

The Parisian landmark is the tallest building in Paris and one of the most recognized structures in the world and is named after its designer, engineer Gustave Eiffel.

The structure was built between 1887 and 1889 as the entrance arch for the Exposition Universal, a World’s fair, marking the centennial celebration of the French revolution. Eiffel had a permit for the tower to stand for 20 years, meaning it would have had to be dismantled in 1909, when its ownership would revert to the City of Paris. The City had planned to tear it down (part of the original contest rules for designing a tower was that it could be easily demolished) but as the tower proved valuable for communication purposes, it was allowed to remain after the expiration of the permit.

Approxiamtlet 6.7 million people visited the tower in 2006 and more than 200,000,000 since its construction. This makes the tower the most visited paid monument in the world. Including the 24 m antenna, the structure is 325 m high which is equivalent to about 81 levels in a conventional building.

MY PREVIOUS WORK

This is my work I had designed during my Advanced Diploma of Architecture. This was our major project which was a mixed development located at Pyrmont Point. For this building I focused on the facade of the building which had its structural elements become part of the facades aethetics.

On the other hand the timber and steel facade was a bold sign which represents a strong relationship with the natural envronment. The form of the building was anglular in nature so that from every part of the building it had a clear and wide view of the nearby harbour. This major project was a series of 3, A3 panels. This particular panel contains all the perspectives. I used Vectorworks 12.5 and Photoshop CS3.
